Robert M. Edsel is the author of the non-fiction book, Rescuing Da Vinci and also The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History which will be released by Hachette Book Group in September 2009. He is the co-producer of the documentary film, “The Rape of Europa,” and Founder and President of the Monuments Men Foundation for the Preservation of Art. He is widely recognized as a leading authority on the history of the Nazis looting of Europe during World War II and the efforts of the Monuments Men to recover these lost treasures. A sought-after speaker, Edsel has spoken at universities, professional groups, museums, high school students, volunteer groups and other organizations.

While he is best known for his work on World War II art theft, recovery and provenance, Edsel also draws on his experience as a tennis player and later the founder of Gemini Exploration, an oil and gas company that pioneered the use of horizontal drilling technology.
